Με την απονομή των Βραβείων «Οδυσσέας» και των Βραβείων «Cosmocinema», σε μία καταπληκτική βραδιά στις 12 Μάη 2018, ολοκληρώθηκε το 11ο ετήσιο Φεστιβάλ Ελληνικού Κινηματογράφου Λονδίνου. Το φεστιβάλ πραγματοποιήθηκε από τις 7 μέχρι τις 12 Μάη, στο Θέατρο Τέχνης του Λονδίνου.
Στην τελετή απονομής παραβρέθηκαν πολλοί διαγωνιζόμενοι σκηνοθέτες, παραγωγοί και σεναριογράφοι, ο Πρέσβης της Ελλάδας στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο κ. Δημήτρης Καραμήτσος-Τζιράς, η Διευθύντρια του Γραφείου Τύπου της Πρεσβείας στο Λονδίνο κ. Έλενα Σουπιανά, καθώς και πολλοί φίλοι του Φεστιβάλ. Την τελετή παρουσίασε ο δημοσιογράφος κ. Θανάσης Γκαβός.
Το φεστιβάλ παρουσίασε πλούσιο πρόγραμμα με διαγωνιστικό χαρακτήρα και μοναδικές παγκόσμιες πρεμιέρες και πρεμιέρες στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία, εξαιρετικές ταινίες από όλο τον κόσμο και εμπνευσμένους δημιουργούς. Στο πρόγραμμα περιλαμβάνονταν ταινίες μεγάλου μήκους μυθοπλασίας, μικρού μήκους μυθοπλασίας, ντοκιμαντέρ, video art, πειραματικές ταινίες, animation & music videos. Υπήρχε επίσης ειδικό διαγωνιστικό τμήμα σεναρίου.
Από φέτος το Φεστιβάλ Ελληνικού Κινηματογράφου Λονδίνου δημιούργησε και ένα αμιγώς διεθνές τμήμα, το οποίο έβαλε κάτω από την ομπρέλα του: το νέο Cosmocinema Festival ή Cosmocinema Awards, επεκτείνοντας το δίκτυο συνεργασιών και δραστηριοτήτων. Το τμήμα αυτό έχει ως στόχο να δημιουργήσει έναν ισχυρό σύνδεσμο ανάμεσα στις ελληνικού ενδιαφέροντος παραγωγές και τις παραγωγές από την διεθνή κινηματογραφική κοινότητα.
Το Φεστιβάλ Ελληνικού Κινηματογράφου Λονδίνου δίνει ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στη σύγχρονη φιλοσοφία του ελληνικού κινηματογράφου και στη διεθνή δικτύωσή του. Οι δουλειές αυτές δίνουν το στίγμα του νέου ελληνικού σινεμά από όλο τον κόσμο, που παρά τις δυσκολίες είναι εξαιρετικά δημιουργικό και συνδυάζει τη δημιουργικότητα που έρχεται από το παλιό καλό σινεμά με τις δυνατότητες που δίνουν οι νέες τεχνολογίες.

The ceremony for the announcement of the winners of the ‘Odysseus Awards’ and the ‘Cosmocinema Awards’ concluded this year’s 11th annual London Greek Cinema Festival. The festival was held between 7-12 May at London’ Theatro Technis.
The awards ceremony was attended by many of the participating directors, producers and scriptwriters, the Ambassador of Greece in the UK Mr Dimitris Karamitsos-Tziras, the Embassy’s Press Councillor Mrs Elena Soupiana, as well as friends and supporters of the festival. The evening’s host was the Greek correspondent Mr Thanasis Gavos.
The festival featured a rich competition section with quite a few unique world or UK premieres, outstanding films from across the world and inspiring creators. The screenings involved feature fiction films, short fiction films, documentaries, video art, experimental films, animation and music videos. There was also a special script competition section.
This year the London Greek Film Festival launched a purely international section, placing it under its umbrella: the new Cosmocinema Festival or Cosmocinema Awards, expanding its network of collaborations and activities. This section aims to function as a strong link between the Greek and Greek-themed productions and the productions from the international cinematography community.
The London Greek Film Festival attributes particular emphasis to the modern philosophy of Greek cinema and to international networking opportunities. These productions make a mark of the new Greek cinema from all over the world, showing that despite the difficulties it is exceptionally creative and that it combines the good old cinema’s creativity with the capabilities offered by new technologies.
